HOUSING & HOMELESSNESS

The last time a global survey was attempted—by the United Nations in 2005—an estimated 100 million people were homeless worldwide and 1.6 billion people lacked adequate housing. In the United States alone, 564,708 people were homeless on any given night in January 2015. As you sleep in a warm bed with a roof over your head tonight, start thinking about ways your WAVE could help people who wish they were as blessed as you. What are ways your WAVE could tackle housing and homelessness?

Stories

Nicole - “Our WAVES group has come together tonight to create care packages for my friend and his family that lost their home in a fire two days ago. We gathered all necessities like socks and soaps and soups and snacks to help them through this difficult time. We love having the opportunity now to share this love as it is Christmas. God is with his family even though this is coming at a tough time. We will be delivering the packages Saturday!!! So excited to share God's love.”

Nathan - “Create a program to provide housing and jobs to help get homeless men and women back on here feet.”

Kaela - “I will kindly buy them a meal, just enough to get them through the day. I will engage them in conversation to make sure that they are aware that someone is there for them.”
